LIVE MUSIC: Danny Paul Grody, Tara Jane O'Neil, Tessellations ~ Doors at 7:00 PM, Music at 8:00 PM

Danny Paul Grody

Danny Paul Grody is a self taught guitarist and founding member of San Francisco-based bands Tarentel and The Drift. The melodies at the core of Danny’s songwriting bring to mind his love of non-Western traditional music, Takoma-style fingerpicking and all things minimal, repetitive & hypnotic.

His debut album “Fountain” (Root Strata, 2010) laid the foundation for a steady stream of solo releases under his own name on labels including Students of Decay, Three Lobed Recordings, Geographic North, and Australia’s Longform Editions.

On his 2023 album “Arc Of Day” Danny gathered an ensemble of musicians and gave us compositions that conjured not just bird-like flights but the supportive skeleton of a bird itself - intricate, delicate, but able to carry a body (or a listener) through bright, airy spaces. That same ensemble, since renamed the Danny Paul Grody Duo, now bring us "Arc Of Night" - a sister collection to "Arc Of Day", shaped from core collaborations between Grody and percussionist/drummer Rich Douthit along with additions on select tracks from Trevor Montgomery on electric bass and Chuck Johnson on pedal steel guitar.

Tessellations

Tessellations, a new band from Oakland featuring members of Dire Wolves, Agnes Martian, and Suver, is a collaboration born of a shared appreciation for the ecstatic possibilities of free psych and the exploration of uncharted sonic territory.   The band paints vibrating sonic moiré patterns that evince wide ranging musical interests–from the wide open expanses of Kosmische to the more lysergic fringes of the experimental and avant-garde–all the while moored by the gravitational pull of melody and song.
